We will first introduce to you the InDesign CS and InCopy CS Combined Software Development Kit. While that is not the primary goal of these sessions, we will certainly mention if a particular concept is carried out as a consumer or extender of the API, and mention references to further reading as needed. Another common need of developing a plug-in is to extend the features of InDesign/InCopy, by providing customized options in the various content-specific domains. We hope that this will suit a majority of your needs as a plug-in developer. At the end, we hope that you are able to automate tasks in InDesign/InCopy by manipulating the InDesign/InCopy C++ API through your own plug-in. While we won t go into details about specific use cases involving content-specific domains, such as text, layout, graphics, cross media (XML), we will certainly make references to them, and explain certain entry points for exploration of these domains. These sessions are designed to bring you to the point where you are comfortable enough with the general landscape of the InDesign/InCopy C++ APIs, so that you can find solutions on your own. There s an enormous amount of information and C++ APIs involved in developing InDesign and InCopy plug-ins. 2 The primary goal of these training sessions is to help you start on the right foot in developing InDesign/InCopy plug-ins.
